Ajman University Takes Part in Meetings of Association of Arab Universities

 Dr. Basheer Shehadeh, assistant to the University President for Follow-up and Development, has participated recently in the meeting of the Executive Council of the Association of Arab Universities (AAU), which was held in the headquarters of the AAU General Secretariat in Jordan.

The meeting, attended by presidents and chancellors of universities from 12 Arab countries presented the activities organized by general the secretariat since the last meeting, which included the organization of international conferences, seminars, workshops, and a number of joint projects with the European Union.

The Council issued a recommendation to award the Prize for Best Arab Researcher jointly to Dr. Osama Al-Khawaj, from the UAE University, and Dr. Imadeddin Amri, from the University of Sultan Kabous in Oman. The meeting agreed to submit its recommendations to the General Conference during its 48th session, which is due to take place in Saint Joseph University, Lebanon in March 2015. Applications from a number of universities were approved during this meeting and other universities changed their status from associate members to working members.

The Association of Arab Universities was created as an initiative of the Cultural Department of the Arab League, back in 1964. The Council of the Arab league had issued Decision No 2056 during its 42nd session, held on September 30, 1964, and the AAU General Secretariat was established in 1965.
