In Collaboration with UNICEF: Students to be Awareness Ambassadors for AIDS and HIV

Male and female students from Ajman University, Colleges of Pharmacy and Health Science, Dentistry and Bio-Medical Engineering participated in the World AIDS Day ceremony held at American University of Dubai.

The AUD Health Center celebrated AIDS Awareness Day in the presence of representatives from the UAE Ministry of Health, Dubai Police, UNICEF, American Hospital Dubai, and Standard Chartered Bank.

UNICEF co-organized this event and extended an invitation to all participating universities in the UAE on the Peer Health educators (PHE) Program to appreciate their efforts.  This event raises awareness about the growing risk of HIV and AIDS.

Moreover, Ajman University organized a 4 hours workshop in cooperation with UNICEF. Students of College of Pharmacy and Health Science, who work as awareness ambassadors for HIV and AIDS, attended it. The workshop streamlined the definition of AIDS, HIV transmission methods, myths about the AIDS and the latest treatments and drugs available for this disease. In additions, this workshop discusses the humanitarian rights for HIV patients and how to ensure their involvement in the society by increasing the public awareness.
