As part of the unified campaign by the AU Women Empowerment Council to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Office of Medical Services at Ajman University successfully hosted an engaging and impactful workshop titled:
"Early Detection with Breast Self-Examination (BSE): The Journey from Self-Diagnosis to Survivorship" on Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024 from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Medical Clinic, Student Hub, Ground Floor aligned with the UN Self-Care for Healthcare movement by emphasizing personal responsibility in health monitoring and preventive care.
This educational initiative attracted a large and diverse group of attendees from across the AU community, all eager to enhance their knowledge of early breast cancer detection and reproductive health awareness. Delivered by healthcare professionals, the session provided vital information and hands-on training in Breast Self-Examination (BSE) techniques—empowering participants with practical tools for early diagnosis and prevention. Attendees actively participated in a practical learning activity, where they had the opportunity to explore both normal and abnormal anatomical breast simulation models. These interactive sessions were followed by discussions to enhance understanding.
The strong turnout and enthusiastic engagement of participants underscored the growing interest in health literacy and self-empowerment. Attendees left the session better equipped to take proactive steps toward their health and share this knowledge within their communities.
We are proud of the positive impact of this event and remain committed to organizing more initiatives that promote health, empowerment, and education at Ajman University.
