As part of its commitment to enhancing health awareness and preventive care, the Office of Medical Services at Ajman University continues the Nutritional Counselling and Wellness Support Program for both staff and students and for targeted community. This initiative focused on Body Mass Index (BMI) calculation, personalized nutritional guidance, and one-on-one consultations to promote informed lifestyle choices and long-term well-being, primarily focusing on:

  • BMI Calculation:
Participants underwent BMI assessments to better understand their weight status and associated health risks. The measurements provided a starting point for individualized health discussions.
  • Nutritional Counselling:
Based on BMI results and individual health concerns, participants received tailored advice on healthy eating habits, portion control, and balanced diets. Nutritional counseling addressed common issues such as weight management, vitamin deficiencies, and lifestyle-related conditions.
  • One-to-One Health Advice:
Dedicated sessions allowed participants to speak privately with healthcare professionals, ask questions, and receive customized recommendations aligned with their personal goals and health status.
  • Use of Digital Tools:
To enhance self-monitoring and support sustained healthy behaviors, the program incorporated several user-friendly mobile applications for calorie calculation, food logging, and BMI tracking. These apps were introduced and recommended to participants as readily accessible tools to help maintain their nutritional goals and overall wellness.
  • Gold Health Package Offer which includes the blood screening for any vitamins and minerals deficiencies which could impact the health and wellbeing of AU community and their families. This screening helped adjusting the lifestyle and nutrition impact on health.
  • Food Intolerance Test Offer for those suffering from any gastro-intestinal issues related to food intolerance, with free referral nutritionist to understand ad handle the issue.
  • Voluntary Community Service: Breastfeeding Support Initiative to promote the best nutritional start in life.
In collaboration with our healthcare partners, the Office of Medical Services organized a voluntary community service initiative at the TUH Maternity Ward, offering breastfeeding support and educational sessions for mothers and their new-borns empowering and supporting mothers in overcoming common breastfeeding challenges during this critical period.

These initiatives were well-received by both students and staff, who appreciated the personalized approach, practical guidance, and integration of digital tools. Many participants expressed increased motivation and confidence in managing their nutrition and lifestyle choices.

By creating a supportive environment and offering accessible preventive services combined with modern technology, the Office of Medical Services continues to empower the AU community to take charge of their health and maintain long-term wellness.
