The Office of Medical Services (OMS) continues its commitment to promoting maternal and child health through ongoing breastfeeding support initiatives in collaboration with Thumbay University Hospital, Ajman.
Dr. Fetta Djessas, MD, IBCLC, Manager of Medical Services, has served as a volunteer lactation consultant at the hospital’s Maternity Ward providing expert breastfeeding counseling and education to over 400 mothers during approximately 200 contact hours. The one-on-one consultations conducted with prenatal and postnatal women in the maternity ward provided a safe space for mothers to discuss personal challenges, receive tailored guidance, and build confidence in their breastfeeding journey.
Through these direct interactions, Dr Fetta offered practical support, education, and reassurance to new mothers, helping them establish successful breastfeeding practices and strengthen early mother–child bonding.
This initiative represents a significant stride in advancing maternal and newborn health, while reaffirming the university’s enduring commitment to voluntary community service and healthcare outreach. Additional sessions and training programs are planned further to extend the reach and impact of this meaningful effort.
