The Office of Students’ Housing, in collaboration with Saudi German Health UAE, organized a health awareness event titled “A Step Toward a Healthier Future” on 15 October 2025. The event aimed to empower female residents with essential knowledge on health and the importance of early detection. This initiative is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to support student well-being and aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being.
The event was designed to raise awareness, encourage preventive health behaviors, and foster an open and supportive environment for students. Medical professionals led an informative session on women’s health, emphasizing the importance of regular self-checks for early detection. A hands-on practice session guided participants on proper techniques, ensuring the information could be applied effectively in daily life.
In addition to the educational component, the event featured pink-themed pastries, giveaways, and informative leaflets to create a warm and engaging atmosphere. Female residents were invited to wear pink to symbolize solidarity and support for health awareness. The initiative received positive engagement, with many residents expressing appreciation for the opportunity to learn and participate in an interactive, supportive setting. This event reflects the university’s strong commitment to health promotion and prevention. It also aligns with Goal 5: Gender Equality, by empowering female students with vital health knowledge, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by strengthening collaboration between internal departments to achieve shared wellness objectives. As part of the Continuous Improvement Plan, this event serves as a model for future health and wellness initiatives within student housing. Plans include organizing similar awareness sessions regularly throughout the academic year, expanding the scope to include both male and female hostels, and enhancing collaboration with health service providers and community organizations. Feedback mechanisms will also be implemented to evaluate impact and improve future programming.
The “A Step Toward a Healthier Future” initiative successfully demonstrated the impact of preventive education and community engagement. It reinforced the university’s dedication to creating a safe, informed, and health-conscious residential environment. Through continuous improvement and alignment with the UN SDGs, the Office of Students’ Housing remains committed to supporting student well-being and fostering a culture of health awareness on campus.
