Recognizing the importance of convenience and accessibility in promoting public health, an onsite HPV vaccination drive was organized at AU. The initiative aimed to facilitate easy access to vaccination for both students and staff as part of the broader effort to prevent HPV-related diseases, including cervical cancer. The initiative saw active participation from individuals who had pre-registered following the webinar “Act Today to Protect Tomorrow” on 31 January 2025, demonstrating a clear shift from awareness to action.
Pre-registered participants received professional care and guidance from a dedicated medical team from Manzil Health, which included a licensed medical practitioner, experienced nurses, and administrative support personnel. The team ensured a seamless and safe vaccination process, adhering to all clinical and safety protocols.
The event witnessed a positive turnout, reflecting growing awareness and acceptance of the HPV vaccine within the AU community. Participants also had the opportunity to consult with medical experts on-site, addressing any concerns or questions they had about the vaccine and its benefits.
This successful collaboration marks a significant step forward in the university’s commitment to public health and preventive care. Further vaccination events and educational sessions are being considered to reach more members of the community and sustain momentum in the fight against HPV-related illnesses.
Widespread Distribution of Educational Materials
Over 5,000 members of the AU community have received the HPV digital informational leaflet, which provides essential details on HPV transmission, its link to cervical cancer, and the importance of vaccination.
This collaborative initiative highlights the shared commitment of the AU community and its partners to protect public health and prevent cervical cancer through timely vaccination and education. As further steps are taken toward organizing the onsite drive and expanding outreach, continued community involvement will be key to ensuring lasting impact.
