Throughout 2025, Sexual and reproductive health remained an important component of United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being). Ajman University’s student medical check-up form lists HIV testing, HBsAg testing and an HBC test, highlighting the role of infectious disease screening in student healthcare.
HIV testing helps identify HIV infection, while the hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) test screens for a marker of current hepatitis B infection. Early diagnosis, appropriate medical follow-up, accurate health education and access to preventive services can help reduce transmission and improve health outcomes.
These measures align with the Sexual and Reproductive Health, which aims to combat communicable diseases and promotes access to sexual and reproductive healthcare services for more than 3000 students. Strengthening confidential screening, informed health awareness and non-discriminatory healthcare helps protect individual well-being and supports a healthier community. Additionally, interns and staff were offered special discounts on blood screening tests and necessary vaccinations, further supporting preventive healthcare and occupational health needs.
The initiative reflects AU’s continued commitment to preventive healthcare, health awareness, and the well-being of community.
