The Office of Medical Services (OMS), Ajman University, in collaboration with Saudi German Hospital – Ajman and in alignment with the Ajman University Women Empowerment Council (AUWEC) initiative, conducted a Breast Cancer Awareness and Breast Self-Examination (BSE) session for AU students.
The session featured a bilingual awareness lecture and interactive discussion in English and Arabic, led by Dr. Marwa Fathy, Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology, focusing on breast health, preventive care, breast cancer awareness, and the importance of recognising changes that may require professional assessment.
The educational session was complemented by a hands-on BSE practice led by Dr. Fetta Djessas, Senior Medical Services Manager, AU Office of Medical Services, enabling students to learn and practise the appropriate technique using breast examination simulators and anatomical models. This experiential approach supported practical understanding and health literacy while providing participants with an opportunity to engage directly with healthcare professionals and clarify their questions.
Participants were also offered free, private and confidential medical consultations, providing convenient access to professional health guidance within the University setting.
The initiative contributes to preventive healthcare, health education, early health awareness, and accessible health services, reinforcing the strategic healthcare partnerships and community engagement in support of a healthier and more informed university community. Through accessible, bilingual and experiential health education, Ajman University continues to promote preventive health practices, student well-being and health literacy, supporting a healthy and sustainable campus environment.
