Brief about the AU Legal Clinic:

The AU Legal Clinic, supported by the Deanship of the College of Law and in partnership with Al Tamimi Group, aligns with international best practices in legal education. Its primary objectives are to raise legal awareness, provide legal education, and offer free legal consultations, functioning as a center of excellence for both legal education and community service.

The Legal Clinic serves as a key method for advancing legal education in law faculties and schools worldwide, encompassing all types of legal systems. It combines theoretical study with practical and professional experience, allowing students to engage directly with the legal environment.

Area of Services:

  • Legal Advice and Consultation: Providing initial legal guidance to individuals seeking support on various legal matters.
  • Housing and Landlord/Tenant Issues: Assisting with housing-related concerns, including landlord-tenant disputes, eviction defense, and housing discrimination.
  • Employment Law Assistance: Providing guidance on employment matters, including workplace discrimination, wrongful termination, and wage disputes.
  • Consumer Protection: Supporting clients with consumer rights issues, including fraud, deceptive practices, and unfair business practices.
  • Community Education and Outreach: Conducting workshops and outreach programs to educate the community about their legal rights and responsibilities.
  • Environmental Law: Addressing legal issues related to environmental protection and conservation.

Process and Timeline

Law students receive guidance from faculty members while reviewing and drafting legal advice. The Legal Clinic also trains them in preparing legal notes, documents, contracts, and agreements related to friendly settlements or other legal matters. This hands-on experience equips future graduates to become leaders in their field.

Faculty review the students’ work and provide feedback, a process that typically takes up to 14 working days.
