More than 40 high school students from Al Sholaa School, Ajman, and Ajman Academy School visited Ajman University (AU) to learn more about the programs offered by AU’s College of Architecture, Art and Design (CAAD) that was organized by the CAAD recruitment committee members; Mr. Iyad Jumaa, Mrs. Nashwa Shiqwarah, Ms. Dalal Abdullah, Mrs. Omnia Ahmed and Mrs. Hadil Al Bustami, Headed by Ms. Noor Alyafie. During the two-day event, high school students were provided the opportunity to learn more about the foundations of art and design at AU.
Students were welcomed by Dr. Riad Saraiji, Dean of CAAD, who also provided a brief overview of the programs offered at the college. Dr. Riad encouraged the visiting students to learn more about CAAD by researching and asking questions about their program of interest. Mr. Akram Azmy, Assistant Instructor, Interior Design Department, also organized a tour of the CAAD's ultramodern labs, facilities, and classes to see the projects and work created by AU students and faculty.
The students thereafter attended an introductory session about the various departments of the college and its undergraduate and graduate programs, delivered by Mr. Mohammed Rabah, Assistant Instructor, Architecture Department.
The following two workshops were offered on separate days to high school students. The first day's workshop featured a design lecture and workshop about Arab Architects and Designers, organized by Ms. Nashwa Shiqwarah, Mr. Iyad Jumaa, and Dr. Muna Salameh, instructors in the Architecture Department.
The second workshop, Imagination Reflection, a digital sketching workshop, was organized by Raghad Yehya, a senior student in the Architecture Department, Sedra Sabbagh, a third-year student in the Interior Design Department and Mr. Taher Eldanaf, Head of the Interior Design Department. Students were given souvenirs and college brochures at the end of each workshop.
The College of Architecture Art and Design offers programs that span all aspects of Architecture, Interior Design, Building Engineering and Construction Management, and Urban Design. All programs go through rigorous continuous improvement processes and they are all accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the Ministry of Education. The Bachelor of Architecture program is validated by the International Union of Architects (UNESCO-UIA) and the Interior Design program is a member of the International Federation of Interior Designers and the Association of Professional Interior Designers.
