Ajman University's Dental Anastomosis Club Provides Free Dental Screenings and Oral Health Education at Ajman Orphanage
The Dental Anastomosis Club, under Ajman University's Office of Student Life, organized a community outreach initiative at the Ajman Orphanage, providing free dental screenings and oral health education to 72 children. The initiative was held in collaboration with volunteers from Emirates Red Crescent and with sponsorship support from Jordan, reinforcing the University's commitment to community engagement and preventive healthcare.
The event blended learning with fun. More than 10 student volunteers joined forces with Emirates Red Crescent volunteers to deliver free dental screenings, distribute toothbrushes and educational pamphlets, and coach the children on life-long oral hygiene habits. The practical screenings helped identify early dental needs, while the take-home messages about brushing technique, flossing, and regular check-ups aimed to set up long-term health benefits.
A highlight of the day was a painting competition that invited children to express what healthy smiles mean to them. The top three artworks were recognized with prizes, creating a moment of pride and motivation for the young participants.
Beyond the medical checks, the camp fostered essential skills among the volunteers. Students sharpened communication and teamwork as they explained dental concepts in kid-friendly language, collaborated across roles, and supported a positive, empowering environment for the children.
The initiative proved that collaborative efforts of bridging student energy, humanitarian support, and sponsor backing can create meaningful, scalable impact. By combining preventive care with education and creative activity, the camp not only improved immediate oral health awareness but also seeded habits that can protect long-term dental health for these children.
