Hackathon 2018: Data for Happiness, is an event organized by TRA and sponsored by many organizations including Ajman University, Microsoft, IBM, and other UAE federal government entities. There were six hackathons for the seven emirates that ran from February 4 to 27, with a closing ceremony on March 4, in Zayed University, Dubai, coinciding with the International Open Data Day. Participants and winners were awarded certificates and prizes. Hundreds attended the closing ceremony along with UAE Minister of Happiness, Ohoud bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Deputy Director of Telecommunications and the Director of Dubai Statistics Center.
Ajman University hosted the event on February 19-21, where participants from students to engineers with their mentors worked hard, day and night, doing the best they can to be the winners who improve the happiness and quality of life in the UAE.
