Ajman University honored renowned sports journalist and media personality, Mustafa Al-Agha in a ceremony held at the University’s campus on 2nd May, 2021. He was presented with a trophy and his work in the media and social spheres was acknowledged in a speech by Ajman University Chancellor Dr. Karim Seghir..
Mr. Al-Agha is most recognized for his presentation of the “Sada AL Malaeeb” program and his role as sports programs director at MBC Group (Middle East Broadcasting Centers). In addition to the Chancellor, other AU dignitaries in attendance at the ceremony included Dr. Abdulhaq Al Nuaimi, Vice chancellor for Communication and Community Affairs; Dr. Shaher Momani, Dean of Humanities and Sciences; and Dr. Mohamed Helal, Director of Student Life.
Mustafa Al-Agha's many kindnesses, his service to humanity and his strong efforts to promote and extend Ajman University’s numerous social initiatives were recognized and celebrated at the event. Mr. Al-Agha’s programs are designed to serve not only Ajman, but the UAE and the Gulf region in general.
Mr. Al-Agha also announced the news of Ajman University’s Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Social Work program receiving a prominent international accreditation. The five-year accreditation is issued by the Supreme Council for Research and Higher Education Evaluation (HCERES), making AU one of only eight universities in the Middle East and North Africa region that has succeeded in meeting the robust evaluation criteria. The accreditation is yet another acknowledgement of the university’s globally competitive programs.
AU Chancellor Dr. Karim Seghir expressed his pride in hosting and honoring Mustafa Al Agha, saying: “We at Ajman University pay great attention to social responsibility initiatives because of their positive impact on individuals and institutions, especially in critical times such as the current pandemic that we are witnessing globally. Honoring the great journalist Mustafa Al-Agha is a simple way of returning the favor for his influential journey of giving."
During the visit, Mustafa Al-Agha toured a number of Ajman University facilities, including the library and the university’s sports complex which features the latest equipment and is an ideal venue for sports tournaments.
Additionally, Mr. Al-Agha visited the College of Media and toured the studios, which are equipped with the latest technology comparable with the best TV studios and production houses around the world.
Mr. Al-Agha also visited the Sheikh Zayed Center, which houses the Covid-19 Testing and Vaccination center operated in collaboration with Tamouh Health Services, the University's Mobile Dental Clinic, and the new students registration venues.
