Ajman University Crowned Champion of Oxy Petroleum Universities Football Championship

The football varsity of Ajman University of Science and Technology (AUST) was crowned champion of Occidental Petroleum Corporation (Oxy) universities tournament recently organized in Abu Dhabi.   

Taking part in the championship were eight universities and higher education institutions from around the UAE. At the group stage, the eight participating varsities were divided into two groups of four. AUST and Abu Dhabi’s Higher College of Technology teams made it through to the finals after leading their respective groups.

The final game rendered a strong and thrilling play and saw AUST team victorious with a score of 4 goals to 3. The curtain fell on this year’s Oxy tournament with Ajman University team lifting the championship trophy, and the second and third place winners receiving silver and bronze medals, respectively.

Capt. Abdulhameed Bakoor, AUST Sports Supervisor, expressed his contentment at this win, thanking the University for its constructive support to the varsity. The University management congratulated the winning team on their excellent and rewarding performance throughout the tournament and wished them further feats in upcoming competitions.
