The Counseling Unit of the Deanship of Student Services, Ajman University (AU), organized the first cultural salon in October in the presence of a number of professors, students and lovers of literature, let alone AU Chancellor Dr. Karim Seghir.
The panel included Dr. Bilal Zakarneh, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages at Ajman University, Dr. Marilyn Allen, Professor of English Literature at the UAE University, Dr Mohammed Nassor, Head Department of Biomedical Engineering at Ajman University, Professor Stephen Zinni of the American University in Ras Al Khaimah and Dr. Hala Sharkas, Professor of Translation at the United Arab Emirates University.
The audience enjoyed a fruitful discussion on themes, characters, and elements of Arabic culture in the "Alchemist" novel by Paulo Coelho.
The Counseling Unit announced that a cultural salon will be held on Tuesday in the third week of every month in an attempt to nurture and promote the cultural value of the University and develop students’ awareness on the importance of reading.
