Dentistry Students Begin Their Medical Journey with the White Coat Ceremony

Ajman University’s College of Dentistry organized the White Coat Ceremony for first-year dental students, aiming to instill professional and humanitarian values and introduce them to the responsibilities and ethics of medical practice. The ceremony marked the beginning of their academic journey in the field of dentistry.

The event began with the UAE National Anthem, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran. Prof. Khaled Assaleh, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, delivered a welcoming address, congratulating the new students on joining Ajman University and emphasizing the importance of medical ethics and responsibility toward patients and the community.

Following his remarks, Prof. Salem Abu Fanas, Dean of the College of Dentistry, expressed his pride in the incoming class and commended the faculty’s efforts in preparing well-qualified dental professionals dedicated to serving the community and advancing the dental field. He also encouraged students to uphold the values symbolized by the white coat and to pursue their studies with dedication and integrity.

The program also featured an introductory video highlighting the college’s academic achievements and facilities, along with student reflections on why they chose to study dentistry at Ajman University and what distinguishes the AU learning experience, highlighting its supportive environment and advanced practical training opportunities.

The ceremony concluded with the official donning of the white coats and the pledge of commitment to the dental profession, as students affirmed their dedication to the ethical and humanitarian principles that define the field. The event was attended by faculty members, parents, and guests, who joined the students in celebrating the beginning of their professional journey.

The White Coat Ceremony is one of the college’s most significant annual traditions, carrying profound symbolism as it marks the transition from preclinical studies to clinical practice and professional responsibility.
