The Office of International Academic Affairs and Office of Sustainability Organize Ajman University Winter Study Tour 2025
The Office of International Academic Affairs, in collaboration with the Office of Sustainability at Ajman University, organized the Winter Study Tour 2025 to enhance students’ awareness of sustainability and climate change, and to link academic knowledge with field-based and practical experiences.
The tour included the Climate Fresk Workshop, an interactive session that used a visual mapping approach to explain climate change, connect its scientific causes with environmental and human impacts, and explore practical solutions through participatory discussions.
Students also visited the Emirates Revised Derived Fuel (RDF), where they learned about waste-to-fuel conversion processes and the role of this technology in reducing landfill dependency and supporting the circular economy, while highlighting innovation in sustainable energy and waste management.
As part of the tour, students attended an orientation session on the solar-powered hydroponic net house project in collaboration with the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA). The session included a project presentation, a guided tour of the greenhouse, and an open discussion with experts on sustainable agriculture and food security.
The tour concluded with a visit to the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), where students explored advanced research projects on crops, soil, and water management in arid and saline environments. They also engaged with experts to learn about the role of biosaline agriculture in enhancing food security and addressing water scarcity challenges.
