The Council of Information, Research and Training at Ajman University of Science and Technology (AUST) held the sixth edition of the Student Research Conference. This edition brought together more than 100 research papers, ranging between individual projects and collective endeavours of AUST students. The first day was reserved for research papers prepared by AUST female students while the second day was dedicated to their male colleagues. The projects were supervised by a number of highly qualified and specialized faculty members, and took place in 6 rooms in the University's multi-purpose facility, the Sheikh Zayed Centre for Conferences and Exhibitions.
The conference started with the presentation of students' research projects, which were followed by deliberation sessions held by members of the jury to assess the participating projects. Afterwards, an award ceremony was held to honour the best and most distinguishing research papers.
The award ceremony kicked off on a note of the UAE national hymn, and a short Quranic recitation, followed by an address of Dr. Ahmad Ankit, AUST Vice President for External Relations and Cultural Affairs. In his speech, Dr. Ankit expressed his appreciation to the organizing committee, headed by Prof. Omar Attef, Secretary General of the Council of Research, Information and Training. He also extended his thanks to all the participating students, faculty members and juries for the support and enthusiasm they demonstrated during this important research event.
"Research is one of the five standards on which AUST philosophy is build." Said Dr. Ankit. "Scientific Research should become an everyday practice for all of our AUST community. It is the engine of progress in all developed nations and no genuine reform or development can be successfully carried out without given the required position and providing the necessary tangible and intangible support to research." He added.
Dr. Ankit said that each student who joins Ajman University should consider him/herself as a researcher who is required to create and innovate. "The University will provide the necessary guidance and facilities to help the student turn his ideas into research projects that are applicable in real life." He explained. AUST Vice President also said that the distinguished projects presented by AUST students in this conference are the result of the great and continuing efforts the University exerts to establish itself as a centre of scientific research par excellence. Dr Ankit concluded his address by extending his special thanks to Mr. Abdullah Roumasi, manager of Al Riyada Group, for sponsoring the 6th edition, and to Mr. Mohamed Housani, from Sharjah Television, for ensuring the media coverage of the event.
Before the conclusion of the research conference, awards were handed over to the best research projects and best researchers. The names of the winning students were announced in the presence of Dr. Ahmad Ankit and Dr. Basheer Shehadah, Vice President for Follow up and Development Affairs, as well as the deans, department heads and faculty members of AUST 9 colleges.

Moreover, appreciation awards were given to members of the jury and supervisors in appreciation for their efforts in organizing the conference, and accompanying and assisting the students throughout the projects' preparation phases.
