Emirati Researcher Obtains Master’s Degree with Distinction from AUST

The Law College of Ajman University of Science and Technology awarded a master’s degree in public law with distinction to Emirati graduate researcher Ali Jumaa Al Kotbi. He defended his thesis on The Nature of Control over the Constitutionality of Laws and its Substantive Framework within the Constitution of the United Arab Emirates: A Comparative Study.

The Master’s thesis jury was chaired by Prof. Mohammed Abdulal Al-Sinari, and comprised Prof. Mohammed Abdulmaqsoud, supervisor and member, as well as Dr. Mohammed Kadry, member.

Al Kotbi conducted a comparative study between the constitutional systems of France and Egypt. He approached the concept and types of control of the constitutionality of laws. He also studied the constitutionality of the rules of law that are subject to control and reviewed the rules that are exempted from control in both States. Moreover, the graduate student presented a study in which he discussed the rules and regulations a constitutional court uses to judge the constitutionality of laws.
