Alumni Association of Ajman University Holds a Workshop on Self Development and Building Skills

Ajman University of Science and Technology’s Alumni Association recently organized an educational workshop entitled ''Self Development and Building Skills'' by Eng. Ismat Ghazal, accredited consultant in self and individuals development at Vocational Development Center in the Medical Education Department of the Dubai Health Authority. The workshop was attended by Mrs. Rana Mohamed Kalam, in-charge of the Alumni Association, members of the Alumni Council, and an audience of students and graduates. 

Eng. Ghazal addressed in this workshop several topics related to the importance of starting right and developing the true self not the fake one. After defining the “self” concept, he stressed the significance of inner dialogue for an individual to identify the best ways to succeed in personal life and career.

He also talked about the key pillars for self building and discovery, as well as the decisive moments of a person’s life and their impact on his/her personality. Besides, he presented some success stories of figures who were just ordinary people, but became famous owing to their strong will, perseverance and determination.

Eng. Ghazal pointed out that ''the purpose of this workshop is to discover and develop the true self not the fake one, through the five key pillars being: art of decision making, effective communication with others, stress management, anger management and self-confidence; and to develop the individual’s talents and innovations, beliefs and behaviors, relationships and values, ideas and interests, as well as skills and competencies; in addition to exposing the crucial and decisive moments in his/her life.

At the end of the workshop, certificates of attendance were handed out to participants, who praised this initiative and called upon the Alumni Association to continue organizing such activities that aim at enhancing core-life skills among AUST students and graduates, the very skills which are indispensable throughout their professional careers.
