Ayman Abdel Razek, a UAE graduate researcher was honored with a master's degree from the college of law of Ajman University of Science and Technology after he successfully defended his thesis project.
The thesis entitled “the insurer’s right of subrogation on third-part damage as per the UAE law and comparative texts” was defended before a three-member jury, composed of Prof. Adnan Sarhan, dean of faculty of law, University of Sharjah - Chair; Dr. Shihabi Ibrahim Sharqawi, dean of college of law, Ajman University – member; and Dr. Abdul Hamid Nagashi, associate professor of civil law at Ajman University - supervisor and member.
The researcher adopted a descriptive, analytical, and critical approach comparing a number of Arabic and foreign legislations. While Emirati law was the center of this comparison, Egyptian and Jordanian laws were used as the main Arabic comparative reference, and US, English and French laws were often quoted as examples of western legislation.
Researcher Ayman Abdel Razek’s choice of the insurance activity as the topic of his master’s thesis reflects the importance and growth the insurance sector has been witnessing in the region in recent years. His choice is also motivated by the interest shown by legislations and law-makers, as well as the growing concern among insurance providers, regulatory authorities, and insurants to ensure maximum impartiality and credibility in all insurance transactions.
