Ajman University’s karate team won four medals during the karate championship of the UAE Higher Education Sports Federation, which attracted tens of competing teams from higher education institutions nation-wide.
College of engineering student Zarkali Mohammed finished second securing a silver medal in the lightweight category (under 60kg). Following suit was dentistry student Essam Awad who secured the second place in the category under 80kg. Biomedical student Laith Hamid secured the 3rd position in the +80kg category, while student Jaber Al Tamimi from the same department finished third in the category under 75kg.
In volleyball, AUST team won their first match in the Higher Education Sports Federation’s volleyball championship against Sharjah Police team.
Captain Abdul Hamid Bakour, the sports activities supervisor, reiterated the university’s keen interest in promoting sports for a healthy lifestyle, especially for students who spend most of their time on campus throughout their studies at Ajman University.
