Ajman University’s Center for Inclusive Learning Organizes Training Program on “Basics of Braille”

The Center for Inclusive Learning at Ajman University organized a training program for administrative staff titled “Feel the Language”, delivered by AU alumna Raneem Hamoudeh, a person of determination. The program aimed to enhance communication skills with people of determination, particularly those who are blind or visually impaired, and introduce participants to the fundamentals of reading and writing in Braille.

The session featured a series of interactive activities and practical exercises that allowed participants to explore the Braille system, understand how letters, numbers, and symbols are encoded using raised dots, and experience hands-on learning in reading and writing. This approach helped deepen their understanding of how Braille can be applied in daily and educational contexts.

The trainer also discussed effective communication methods with people of determination from the blind and visually impaired community, highlighting the importance of verbal and tactile communication in building an inclusive environment. Participants engaged in thoughtful discussions about the challenges faced by blind individuals in educational institutions and ways to provide better support to ensure their full participation in university life.

This experience aimed to raise awareness among administrative staff about the importance of acquiring practical skills that improve the quality of services provided to people of determination, aligning with Ajman University’s vision of promoting inclusion and equal learning opportunities.

The program reflects the Center for Inclusive Learning’s ongoing commitment to promoting awareness, empowering people of determination, and fostering a culture of inclusion through training and educational initiatives that build a supportive and accessible learning environment for all students.
