Ajman University’s Dental Anastomosis Club Hosts Oral Health Day for Orphan Children as Part of Ajman Government's Our Happy Summer 2026 Program

Ajman University's Dental Anastomosis Male and Female Clubs, under the Office of Student Life, brought professional dental care and oral health education to 23 orphan children, hosting an Oral Health Day as part of the Ajman Government Summer Program, Our Happy Summer 2026. Organized under the Office of Student Life and supported by Emirates Red Crescent Ajman, the event brought together 30 AU student volunteers and organizers alongside six Red Crescent volunteers to deliver a day that was equal parts clinical, educational, and human. 

For many children without consistent access to healthcare, a dental screening is not routine. It is often the first structured look at their oral health and the first step toward treatment. Under the guidance of Dr. Mawada Abdelmagied, Senior Lecturer at the College of Dentistry, students conducted oral health screenings with care and professionalism, collecting the information needed to support each child’s dental treatment plans when follow-up care begins in September. The screenings were supported by GUM Company, Kalha Restaurant, and generous anonymous AU staff donors who provided fresh fruit for the children throughout the day. 

An oral health workshop complemented the screenings, introducing children to proper brushing techniques and the habits that form the foundation of long-term dental health. Student volunteers led the activities with energy and warmth, creating an environment where the children could engage comfortably and confidently. The experience carried weight beyond the clinical hours it provided — working with children in a community setting called for empathy, patience, and clear communication, qualities that shape not just competent dentists but compassionate ones. 

For Ajman University, the day reaffirmed what meaningful outreach looks like when student dedication meets genuine community need. The children left with better awareness and a clearer path to the care they deserve. The students left with something equally valuable — the experience of putting their training to work where it matters most.
