In my name and on behalf of my colleagues who are members of the faculty, I welcome you to the Master's program in Private Law at Ajman University's College of Law.

The Department of Private Law is a cornerstone of the College's graduate studies, aiming to fulfill the College's vision and mission in line with the university's new strategy while upholding its distinguished reputation among national and regional universities. The program is taught by a select group of private law professors specializing in civil law, commercial law, civil procedures, and private international law. They teach with competence and excellence in various programs offered by the department, whether at the undergraduate or postgraduate level.

All faculty members strive to empower students with comprehensive legal knowledge, establishing a scientific legal methodology that combines theoretical and practical aspects to achieve a balance between academic requirements and the practical needs of the job market. This equips graduates with exceptional skills that enable them to easily excel in their professional lives after graduation.

Furthermore, the Master's program in Private Law is committed to serving the community by interacting with various legal authorities across the United Arab Emirates.

Program Overview

Introduction:

The College of Law at Ajman University was established to be a cornerstone of legal education at both the local and regional levels, playing a significant role among the higher education institutions in the United Arab Emirates in preparing a generation of legal professionals capable of making a positive impact.

In the course of the ongoing development of the academic programs offered by the College of Law, the Master's program in Private Law was initially introduced in 2008, ultimately receiving final accreditation in May 2016. Recently, the program's accreditation was renewed in December 2021.

The college aims to provide an appropriate academic environment to foster creativity in various legal disciplines. This is achieved through the adoption of distinguished academic programs designed to produce qualified individuals trained in legal and Sharia practices, with an understanding of the latest developments in legal sciences. The college also focuses on teaching students how to acquire knowledge, learn independently, and make use of modern technologies, all while aligning its programs with Ajman University's three-fold mission: educational, informational, and investment-oriented.

Objectives:

Establish a solid foundation for scientific research within the university.
Prepare legal professionals capable of outstanding performance and competition in the job market, ultimately serving and advancing society in the fields of scientific research, university teaching, and more.
Enhance the capabilities of postgraduate students in following scientific research methodologies, keeping up with scientific and technological advancements, and staying informed about the latest legal systems.
Activate the comparative study of Gulf, Arab, and international legislation to benefit from various legal system experiences.
Contribute to nationalization efforts in various legal fields and support the efforts of the Gulf Cooperation Council in this regard.
Offer outstanding academic programs that are based on global developments while considering the community's constants and Ajman's unique network.
Establish bridges of communication and interaction between the university and its law graduates, as well as their counterparts from recognized universities.
Saving the time, effort, and expenses incurred by both the state and individuals for continuing higher education abroad.
Facilitating scientific and cultural cooperation, as well as the exchange of expertise and knowledge with law faculties in various Arab and foreign universities.

Admission Requirements:

Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in Law or its equivalent from a university recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education with a minimum GPA of "very good" (at least 3 out of 4).
Submitting two recommendation letters from professors who have previously taught the applicant during the undergraduate stage.
Pass the EmSAT English language test with a score of not less than 950 or its equivalent in another recognized standardized test (TOEFL 450 or IELTS 4.5). The passing score document must be valid at the time of submission.
Applicants with a Bachelor's degree in Law or its equivalent from a recognized university by the UAE Ministry of Education may be conditionally admitted to the Master's program based on the following criteria:
- For applicants with a cumulative GPA below 3 but not less than 2.5, the following conditions apply:
  - Attain a cumulative GPA of 3 out of 4 in the first nine approved credit hours of Master's program courses, not exceeding a maximum of two semesters.
- For applicants with a cumulative GPA below 2.5, the following conditions apply:
  - Study a maximum of nine approved credit hours of remedial courses as determined by the relevant department. These courses are not counted toward the cumulative GPA or the graduation requirements specified in the approved study plan. The duration to complete these courses does not exceed the maximum completion period of the program.
  - The student should complete the remedial courses by the end of the first two semesters of their enrollment in the program and maintain a cumulative GPA of no less than 3 out of 4.

In both cases, applicants must achieve a minimum score of 950 in the English language test (EmSAT) or its equivalent in another recognized standardized test (TOEFL ITP 450 or IELTS 4.5). If the EmSAT requirements are not met, the student may be conditionally accepted and allowed to study six credit hours until they meet the required EmSAT scores, regardless of their GPA (3-2.5).

Duration:

The minimum duration to obtain a Master's degree with all its components (courses and thesis) is two academic years.
The maximum duration to obtain a Master's degree with all its components (courses and thesis) is four academic years.

In terms of capacity, graduates can interpret legal texts, judicial judgments, and jurisprudential theories with a scholarly approach and a critical perspective.
In terms of type, they can extract legal principles from various sources to formulate accurate solutions for legal disputes.

In terms of scope, graduates can analyze, interpret, and evaluate legislative texts, judicial judgments, jurisprudential theories, and provide commentary.
In terms of choice, they can evaluate different legislative, judicial, and jurisprudential approaches within the UAE's legal system and comparative legal systems.

In terms of independence and responsibility, graduates prepare research, reports, and legal memos using correct legal language and an appropriate scholarly approach.
In terms of self-development, they master self-learning mechanisms and utilize modern technologies for information retrieval.

In terms of their role in the context, they work as part of a professional team, maintaining objectivity and impartiality.
