The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Organizes Preceptor Orientation Session

The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences organized a preceptor orientation session as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of experiential training provided to its students. The session aimed to equip healthcare professionals in hospitals and community pharmacies with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively supervise and guide students during their training, ensuring their preparation for successful careers in pharmacy and healthcare.

The session covered several key areas, including an overview of the training program objectives, clarification of the roles and responsibilities of clinical preceptors, and the evaluation methods used for students. It also highlighted the policies and procedures related to training, while introducing communication channels and support resources available to preceptors to facilitate effective supervision and strengthen overall performance.

Interactive discussions formed a central part of the session, allowing participants to exchange experiences and best practices in clinical training. Real-life case studies were presented to demonstrate how to address challenges students may encounter during their training. Additionally, preceptors had the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback, further enhancing their understanding of their vital role in supporting students and developing their professional skills.

Prof. Abeer Alghananeem, Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, emphasized that preceptors are essential partners in shaping the future of pharmacy and healthcare. She noted that by empowering them with the right tools and resources, the college ensures students are not only well-prepared academically but are also mentored to become compassionate, competent, and innovative professionals.

The organization of this session reflects the commitment of Ajman University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to preparing its students for distinguished professional paths in pharmacy and healthcare. It also demonstrates the College’s dedication to empowering preceptors and enhancing their awareness of their roles and responsibilities in effectively mentoring students. These efforts align with the College’s vision of preparing highly qualified professionals capable of meeting the needs of the healthcare sector and serving the community with competence and responsibility.
