Ajman University of Science & Technology Students participated in the "Italian Luxury Interiors" Exhibition that was held in Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi in March 6, 2010, organized by the ICE (Istituto Commercio Estero) office in Dubai in cooperation with the promotion section of the Italian Embassy covering the region of the UAE, Oman and Qatar. The exhibition was a journey through Italian productive excellence, made by the careful and accurate selection of artisan enterprises and their works: a collection of furniture and manufacturer products from high artisan handwork to art. Moreover, the exhibition included a seminar held by Mr. Marco Piva, one of the most famous Italian architects and entitled “Architecture and Interior Design”. Mr. Piva introduced Italy and the idea of beauty in architecture and then presented his works and designs to the students.

Moreover, AUST students invited Mr. Francesco Alfonsi, Italian Trade Commissioner to the department of Interior Design in the College of Engineering at the University to express his views on their designs and works and further to give an assurance that the relationship between AUST and ICE will continue to develop.

It should be noted that many companies participated in this exhibition including: The Poltrona Frau Group, Akomena, Anticuus, Ars Vivendi, Bellart, Celato Rito, Ceramiche Crestani, Ceramiche D’Agostino, Ceramiche D’Arte Sambuco Mario, Colombostile, Consorzio Forexport, Decor Group Materna, Domitalia, ercolano, Eurolampart, F. The structure of the visit and the program made it possible for the students to view the rich interior design of the famous hotel.

The arrangement of, and the attention to detail of the exhibition was an excellent example for the student of matching inspirational creativity with technical issues.

Since the quality of the elements displayed was carefully selected,  the exhibition was quite limited in space. However, this gave the students an opportunity and the time to speak with the manufacturers and the designers of the items.

Another exhibition in the Emirates Palace gave us the opportunity to admire other interesting projects including a very detailed maquette of the Abu Dhabi Louvre Museum, design by Jean Nouvel.
