AUST Organizes 2nd First Aid Course for its Students

The Department of Student Affairs at Ajman University of Science and Technology organized a second First Aid course in cooperation with the UAE Red Crescent. The 2-day course, which was attended by some 50 AUST male students, provided theoretical lessons and hands-on demonstrations on the management of life-threatening emergencies, including accidents, disasters, drowning, burns, fractures, injuries, bleedings, poisoning, syncope, electric shock and suffocation. The participants were also shown how to tend to children and adults, as well as administer CPR for emergency cases.

The course was facilitated by Dr. Fayez Shakarji, Specialist Trainer in the Red Crescent, in the presence of Mr. Emad Hamed Abu Shaeban, PR Officer from the RC; and was coordinated by Mr. Salem Derbas, Student Counselor in AUST’s DSA.

Dr. Abdulhaq Basheer Al-Nuaimi, Acting Director of the Student Affairs Department, expressed the University’s deep appreciation to the UAE Red Crescent Authority for its constant cooperation in arranging such health awareness-raising events for AUST students. Al-Nuaimi hoped that the participants would benefit from the information and skills acquired from this First Aid course to be able to lend a helping hand to their families and their community members when needed.
