Students of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Prepare to Begin Their Professional Journey at the White Coat Ceremony

The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences organized the White Coat Ceremony for students in the Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, and Nursing programs, aiming to instill the values of commitment, responsibility, and compassionate patient care. This ceremony marks an important milestone, preparing students for the start of their clinical journey and highlighting their future role in delivering high-quality healthcare services.

The event began with an opening speech by Prof. Khaled Assaleh, Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs, who welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of commitment, humanity, and excellence in the healthcare professions. He underscored the responsibility students carry as they provide care grounded in ethical and human-centered values.

This was followed by remarks from Prof. Abeer Alghananeem, Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, who highlighted the core values and principles forming the foundation of students’ professional development. She encouraged students to uphold discipline, integrity, and dedication in serving patients and the community, noting that this stage introduces essential responsibilities to which they must commit.

The ceremony also featured a distinguished AU alumnus, Dr. Abdullah Khalfan Al Kindi, Head of Department at Emirates Health Services and President of the Emirates Pharmacy Association. He spoke about the significant role AU graduates play in advancing the healthcare sector and shared key milestones from his professional journey, offering valuable lessons on how graduates can empower future generations and elevate healthcare practice both locally and internationally.

The ceremony reflects the College’s efforts to prepare competent and responsible healthcare professionals grounded in strong ethical and human values. It also reaffirms the College’s commitment to supporting students as they transition into clinical training, equipping them with the skills needed to deliver high-quality healthcare that meets community needs and keeps pace with the evolving demands of the health sector.
