As part of its steadfast commitment to community engagement and youth empowerment, Ajman University's College of Mass Communication organized a series of dynamic media and photography workshops for children. Hosted in collaboration with Umm Al Moumineen Association, the initiative was part of “Saifuna Saada” (Our Summer is Happiness), a program led by the Government of Ajman to enrich the summer experience of young learners through purposeful and creative engagement.
Over the course of four immersive days, children were introduced to the fundamentals of visual storytelling through simplified and hands-on sessions. The workshops covered core concepts such as composition, lighting, and camera angles, while offering a creative and accessible introduction to the world of media and communication. Participants also learned about various professional roles in the field, including presenters, photographers, and editors, encouraging both critical thinking and imaginative expression.
The sessions were designed to spark curiosity and build foundational skills in a collaborative and enjoyable setting. Children used professional cameras and took part in guided exercises that allowed them to apply what they had learned in real time. This approach not only developed their technical understanding but also encouraged them to express their perspectives visually.
The College of Mass Communication team played an essential role in delivering the workshops. Their engaging approach, age-appropriate explanations, and genuine enthusiasm helped build confidence among participants, many of whom were exploring these topics for the first time.
At the conclusion of the program, Umm Al Moumineen Association honored the College of Mass Communication team in appreciation of their efforts and contribution to the success of the initiative. This gesture highlighted the impact of collaboration between educational institutions and community organizations in fostering talent and inspiring young minds.
This initiative aligns with Ajman University’s broader strategic vision to extend the reach of education beyond campus walls. By actively engaging with the community and investing in the development of future generations, the University continues to position itself as a driver of innovation, social responsibility, and lifelong learning.
