Ajman University Students Secure First and Third Places at DUPHAT 2026
Students from Ajman University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences secured first and third places in the Best Poster Presentation Awards at the Dubai International Pharmaceuticals and Technologies Conference and Exhibition (DUPHAT 2026), held from August 25 to 27 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The event featured more than 500 research posters from over 50 universities.
Fourth-year Pharmacy student Doaa Rafeq Al Alimi won first place in the Artificial Intelligence and Digital Health in Pharmacy Education category for her project, “PharmaGuard AI: A Decentralized Smart Network for Monitoring the Safety of Medicines and Herbal Products in the UAE,” supervised by Prof. Elshaimaa Arafa.
The project explores an innovative approach to monitoring the safety of medicines and herbal products by combining artificial intelligence and smart screening technologies within a decentralized network. The system is designed to support more effective safety monitoring and promote the safe use of medicines and herbal supplements in the UAE.
A second team from the College secured third place in the Clinical Pharmacy and Evidence-Based Research categoryfor their study, “The Relationship Between Vitamin D Deficiency and Anxiety Disorders: A Cross-Sectional Study Among University Students in the UAE.”
The team comprised Dana Rafid, Alia Hassan, Hayfaa Ahmed, and Menaallah Hazem, under the supervision of Dr. Muaed AlOmar. Their study examines the relationship between vitamin D deficiency and anxiety disorders among university students in the UAE, addressing an area at the intersection of clinical pharmacy, mental health, and evidence-based healthcare.
DUPHAT is a major regional platform for the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, bringing together pharmacists, researchers, academics, industry experts, and students to showcase research, exchange knowledge, and explore developments across pharmacy and healthcare.
The two awards demonstrate Ajman University students’ ability to apply their academic and research skills to relevant healthcare challenges, from harnessing emerging technologies to exploring factors affecting student health and well-being. They also highlight the value of engaging students in applied research and giving them opportunities to present their work on specialized scientific platforms.
