The UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has recently accredited the program of Professional Diploma in Teaching proposed by the College of Education and Basic Sciences at Ajman University of Science and Technology.
The new professional diploma program is designed for educating bachelor degree holders with the theoretical knowledge and practical experiences relevant to teaching in secondary schools including teaching methods, psychology, curricula planning, class management, class evaluation and practicum.
The goals of the program satisfy the basic pedagogic skills that every teacher must master in order to meet the international standards of the profession. "The idea to offer this professional degree comes in compliance with the objective of professionalization of teaching proposed by the UAE and GCC's ministries of education." Said Prof. Samir Hadid, Dean of AUST College of Education and Basic Sciences. "The new program will be launched simultaneously in both Ajman and Fujairah campuses starting the Fall Semester 2010-2011 and will be opened to students graduated from universities and colleges in the GCC and other Arab countries." He added.
The two-semester-long diploma will cover 33 credit hours, comprising 8 obligatory courses, one elective course, and 6 credit hours practicum course. Holders of any bachelor's or equivalent from a UAE-recognized institution, who pass the individual interview, can join the new program.
