The Alumni Association of Ajman University of Science & Technology paid a visit to Al-Amal School for the Deaf in Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services. This initiative; which took place as the Al Adha holiday is getting closer, is a gesture of social solidarity taken by AUST graduates to bring joy to the audibly challenged students of the school and show them that they care.
Mrs. Rana Kalem, in charge of the Alumni Association, commented that the visit is part of the association’s mission to integrate AUST graduates in their community, and encourage them to be productive, compassionate and active members of the society. Promoting volunteer work in the young graduates is another aim of this visit.
The visit was an opportunity to share with the children their daily activities. The graduates were welcomed and rapidly accepted by the children, who engaged with them in some fun activities such as face painting and henna designs. They all played games together and were entertained by lively clowns.
Madam Afaf Huraidi, director of the school, was very amenable about the visit and expressed her thanks to AUST graduates and the Alumni Association in Ajman University. She handed them a certificate of appreciation to express her gratitude at the end of this visit.
Al-Amal School for the Deaf was inaugurated in 1983 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to care for audibly challenged children, starting from as early as 2 and half years old.
