Old Books New Life Drive by AU Students

The book club at the Deanship of Student Affairs concluded the campaign of “Give old books a new life” for inmates. During their drive to promote books and give them a new lease the students visited the punitive & correctional institution.

Brigadier General Mubarak Khalfan Al Razi, Director of the Punitive and Correctional Institution, Major Hamed Saif Al Shamsi, Head of Security Department and Captain Fatima Abdullah Mohammed, Support Services Officer, received the student delegation. The students presented a curated collection of books and souvenirs to the management.

Students toured the facility and were briefed about the operations and the daily life of the occupants. They set up a dedicated corner with books in various languages for the inmates to read. They appreciated the opportunity for being able to give back to the community and its members.
