Ajman University Student Registers Impressive Win at International Hackathon by NYUAD

Ajman University’s College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) registered yet another impressive achievement, with student Haya Fuad Al Zuabi emerging as a winner at the International Hackathon by New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD).

The NYUAD Hackathon titled ‘International Hackathon for Social Good’ was focused on Quantum Computing (QC) and UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Haya and her team won the first place in the hackathon for their project, ‘Smart Current - Focus on Affordable and Clean Energy.’ Their project focused on enhancing power availability by optimizing smart grids, electric circuitry, and power flow.

Haya was joined in her team by students from ETH Zurich, NUS Singapore, UC Berkeley, AUS, MIT, Palestine Polytechnic and Khalifa University.

Haya’s project also won the Audience Choice Award and a Special Award from the GESDA Open Quantum Institute at the hackathon.

The Annual NYUAD International Hackathon is a three-day programming marathon, during which renowned international computer science and engineering professors, founders of successful startups, technology professionals, and venture capitalists come together at NYUAD to lead teams of talented computer science students from all over the world, to create QC applications. The teams develop innovative applications relevant to diverse fields such as health, education, sustainability, refugees, music, and science for the benefit of social good.
