Global Day 2024 Highlights Ajman University’s Remarkable Diversity and Internationalization

AJMAN, FEBRUARY 2024: Ajman University (AU) celebrated its Global Day 2024 on February 26, in a highly colorful and lively event that highlighted AU’s remarkable diversity and internationalization.

Showcasing students and cultures from as many as 70 different countries worldwide, AU’s Global Day was a true reflection of its inclusive cultural spirit and recognition as one of the most international higher education institutions in the UAE and globally. 

Ajman University is ranked #3 for international students as per QS World University Rankings 2024 and this event underlined why AU deserves this recognition.

“Ajman University takes immense pride in being one of the most inclusive and diverse higher education institutions anywhere in the world. We actively seek and recruit talented students from various nationalities and regions. AU Global Day is a celebration of our inclusive spirit and of the various cultures that add to making the AU campus such an amazing repository of diversity and excellence,” said Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of Ajman University.

The one-day cultural fest held at the AU campus, was inaugurated by Dr. Karim Seghir in the presence of the University Cabinet; Dr. Nahla Al Qassimi, Dean of Student Services; and Dr, Mohammed Helal, Director of Student Services.

Students from over 30 countries participated in the event by hosting their respective country pavilions that showcased their heritage, tradition, cultures, and works of art. Students dressed in their traditional attire invited guests to taste food at their pavilions, introducing them to the delectable flavors of their local cuisines.

Represented at the pavilions were countries including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Palestine, Yemen, Turkey, Sudan, Libya, Morocco, Lebanon, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Italy, Korea, Algeria, Tunisia, France, Sri Lanka, USA, Philippines, Somalia, Iran and Nigeria among several others. In addition, a special corner dedicated to small projects and a booth representing the Emirates Red Crescent were hosted.

In a literal showcase of traditional fashion from across the world, a fashion show was organized with students walking the ramp in traditional costumes of their respective countries.

Students also demonstrated their artistic talent by participating in performances that included dancing, singing, music and acting on stage.

The event enthralled the audience and proved not only a celebration of diversity, but also a testament to AU students’ organization skills and their enterprising spirit.
