Ajman University Participates in Universities Challenge 2025 with “Ni‘matak” Project

Ajman University participated in the Universities Challenge 2025, held at Expo Centre Sharjah as part of the International Government Communication Forum 2025 (IGCF 2025). The challenge was organized by United Arab Emirates University in collaboration with the Sharjah Government Communication Award, bringing together innovative students from universities across the UAE.

This year’s challenge focused on food security as one of the key pillars of building sustainable communities, aligning with the UAE’s sustainability agenda.

Ajman University highlighted the project “Ni‘matak” through an innovative student presentation developed by students Doaa Rafeq Mohammed Al-Alimi, Sara Walhan Abduljalil, and Muneera Kamil Yahya Ahmed under the supervision of the university’s Office of Sustainability.

“Ni‘matak” is an intelligent digital platform designed to rescue surplus food, reduce food waste, and enhance food security by connecting restaurants, cafés, and stores with individuals through affordable options. The platform supports sustainable consumption, promotes charitable giving, and helps relevant entities track and reduce food waste.

The participation reflects Ajman University’s commitment to supporting student innovation and empowering youth to develop initiatives that contribute to community service, in line with the UAE Food Security Strategy and the university’s mission to advance sustainable development.
