Ajman University’s College of Architecture, Art and Design hosted the 2025 International Museum Day Forum in collaboration with the International Council of Museums – UAE (ICOM-UAE), as part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two parties.
The forum was held in alignment with the annual global celebration under the patronage of UNESCO, this year’s theme being "The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities."
The forum opened with a speech by Dr. Mona Al Ali, Vice Chair of the International Council of Museums – UAE, in which she expressed her gratitude and appreciation for Ajman University’s efforts in hosting and organizing the forum. She emphasized the importance of such events in supporting museums as dynamic centers for learning and community engagement.
The forum featured a distinguished group of local and international speakers and experts in the fields of culture and museology, who shared strategic insights and engaged in meaningful discussions with students, faculty, and guests. The sessions explored global trends and challenges facing museums, focusing on the evolving role of architectural and interior design in shaping the museum's inclusive and future-ready cultural spaces.
The forum also featured an exhibition of outstanding student projects from the Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Interior Design programs. Students showcased their creative designs for interior environments of museum exhibition halls, as well as architectural proposals for contemporary museum buildings that incorporate principles of sustainability and cultural identity. The exhibition provided students with a valuable opportunity to present their work to experts and professionals and receive constructive feedback supporting their academic and professional growth.
The forum was organized within the framework of the AU-ICOM-UAE partnership, represented at the university by Dr. Gamal El Samanoudy, who oversaw the planning and ensured the alignment of the event with the academic and cultural objectives of both institutions.
This forum reflects Ajman University’s strong commitment to advancing its position as a globally engaged educational institution, supporting international collaboration, and empowering students to engage with heritage and cultural issues through an inclusive and forward-thinking academic environment.
