Ammar Al Nuaimi Chairs Ajman University Board of Trustees Meeting and Reaffirms the University’s Role in Shaping a Knowledge-Based Economy

His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, Chairman of the Executive Council, chaired the meeting of Ajman University’s Board of Trustees held at the University’s premises. At the beginning of the meeting, His Highness welcomed the members and praised their efforts in advancing the university’s journey and reinforcing its academic and societal impact locally and internationally.

His Highness emphasized that Ajman University’s transformation into a non-profit educational institution marks a strategic milestone that reflects its national commitment to achieving the goals of We the UAE 2031 and Ajman Vision 2030. He explained that this transformation will enhance academic excellence through the development of innovative educational and research programs aligned with the country’s priorities. It will also contribute to the university’s institutional sustainability by diversifying income sources and reducing reliance on tuition fees, thereby supporting its future plans and expanding its social impact.

His Highness emphasized the importance of cultivating a culture of knowledge sharing and fostering active partnerships with both the public and private sectors to support the development of a sustainable knowledge economy and reinforce Ajman University’s position as a leading national academic institution with a global reach.

During the meeting, His Highness was briefed on the latest updates and achievements of the Board of Trustees’ subcommittees, covering academic affairs, community engagement, financial auditing, and financial sustainability, all aimed at strengthening governance and enhancing institutional efficiency.

Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of Ajman University, delivered a presentation highlighting the university’s key achievements, including the College of Dentistry’s attainment of a seven-year international academic accreditation from the Australian Dental Council (ADCI). Ajman University is the first higher education institution in the UAE to receive this prestigious accreditation for both its undergraduate and graduate dentistry programs.

Dr. Seghir also highlighted the university’s advancement in global rankings, noting that Ajman University was ranked among the top 51–100 universities worldwide, and first in the UAE, in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, according to the 2025 QS World University Rankings. He further noted that the university achieved top rankings in several other disciplines, including:

  • Pharmacy and Pharmacology: Top 151–200 worldwide and #1 in the UAE
  • Computer Science and Information Systems: Top 201–250 worldwide and #2 in the UAE
  • Mathematics: Top 201–250 worldwide and #2 in the UAE
  • Accounting and Finance: Top 251–300 worldwide
  • Social Sciences and Management: Ranked 284 worldwide and #3 in the UAE

 

In alignment with job market demands, the university has introduced a range of specialized academic programs designed to equip students with in-demand skills. These include Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence, Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity, Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy, Master of Clinical Psychology, Master of Digital Sociology, and Master of Science in Orthodontics.

The meeting also reviewed the signing of two new academic cooperation agreements with Chongqing University and Southwest University in China. These agreements were finalized during the official visit of His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi to Chongqing. The partnerships aim to strengthen Ajman University’s position as a non-profit, globally oriented institution dedicated to deepening scientific and cultural exchange and developing joint academic programs aligned with the UAE’s vision and Ajman’s policies for promoting innovation, research, and sustainable education.

As part of Ajman University’s commitment to supporting research, Dr. Seghir announced his appointment to the QS Global Advisory Committee for the Middle East. Additionally, Dr. Sai HS. Boddu has been named a Highly Cited Researcher in the Pharmacology and Toxicology category by Clarivate™. Dr. Rao Naveed, faculty member at the College of Engineering and IT, has secured AED 1.5 million in funding to establish a state-of-the-art computing lab.

Dr. Seghir highlighted that Ajman University has officially licensed “EcoSphere,” a pioneering company dedicated to developing electronic games specifically designed for people of determination. Founded by Emirati national Mohammed Al Marzouqi—himself a person of determination—EcoSphere is supported by AU’s Innovation Center, embodying a remarkable story of resilience and excellence.

The meeting was attended by members of the Board of Trustees, including H.E. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Muwaiji, Chairman of the Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry; H.E. Dr. Saeed Saif Al Matrooshi, Secretary-General of the Executive Board; H.E. Raja Easa Al Gurg, Chairperson and Managing Director of the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group; H.E. Dr. Amina Al Rostamani, Executive Board Member, Shareholder, and Director at AW Rostamani Group; H.E. Rashed Abdulrahman Sultan Bin Jebran Alsuwaidi, Director General of the Ajman Government Human Resources Department; as well as Abdullah Humaid Al Mazrouei, Dalya Al Muthanna, and Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of Ajman University.
