Ajman University Ranked Among the World's Top 400 Universities in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027

Ajman University climbs to the 376–400 band and ranks 5th in the UAE, with International Outlook leading its performance

Out of 2,297 universities assessed across the globe, Ajman University (AU) now stands among the top 400. In the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, AU placed in the 376–400 band, its strongest result to date in the THE rankings, and ranked 5th among the nine UAE universities included this year.

THE’s World University Rankings are designed for research-intensive universities, and they look closely at what happens in classrooms, labs, and partnerships. Each institution is measured across five pillars: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, International Outlook, and Industry, drawing on 18 indicators that range from citation impact to the learning environment and knowledge transfer.

For AU, that means the result speaks directly to the strength of its academic and research ecosystem. Faculty publishing work with global reach, students learning in a research-active environment, and collaborations that extend well beyond the UAE all feed into the score.

AU’s standout pillar this year was International Outlook, where the University ranked #2 worldwide. The pillar reflects the share of international students and staff on campus and the proportion of research produced with international co-authors.

It is a result that mirrors daily life at AU. Students from more than 100 nationalities share lecture halls, faculty bring expertise from across continents, and research teams work with partners around the world. The same strength earned AU the #2 spot for International Outlook in the THE Arab University Rankings 2026, confirming a pattern rather than a one-off.

Ranking 5th in the UAE places AU firmly among the country’s leading universities at a time when the nation is investing heavily in knowledge, innovation, and talent. As a non-profit institution, AU’s rise shows how a mission focused on access and quality can compete at the highest level.

For current students, the ranking adds weight to their degree in a global job market. For prospective students and families, it offers independent confirmation of the education AU provides. And for research and industry partners, it signals an institution with growing capacity to collaborate on real-world challenges.

Commenting on this achievement, Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of Ajman University, said:

“This result is recognition of the people who make Ajman University what it is. Our researchers, faculty, and staff have built an academic community that is open to the world and serious about its impact, and our students carry that spirit wherever they go. Earning a place among the world’s top 400 universities in Times Higher Education tells us we are on the right path, and it motivates us to keep raising the bar in teaching, research, and the value we create for the UAE.”

The THE result follows AU’s entry into the top 400 of the QS World University Rankings 2027 in June. With top 400 placements in both of the world’s most widely followed rankings in the same year, Ajman University’s global standing is being recognized from more than one angle, and the momentum shows no sign of slowing.
