Nasima Mohammad Helal a student from Ajman University’s College of Engineering and Information Technology, won the “Outstanding Student” category in the 4th edition of the Engineering Excellence and Creativity Award 2026, organized by the Emirates Society of Engineers, in recognition of her academic excellence and achievements in the engineering field.
The student was honored by Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Supreme President of Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, during a ceremony that celebrated 29 distinguished winners from institutions and individuals across the engineering sector.
The award is the first of its kind in the UAE and was launched under the directives of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, may he rest in peace, to support engineering innovation and creativity, encourage engineering talents, and highlight innovative projects and ideas that contribute to sustainable development and a diversified knowledge-based economy, in line with the UAE Centennial 2071 vision.
The award also aims to highlight the importance of engineering work, promote a culture of excellence and innovation, and encourage engineers and students to develop innovative solutions and practices that keep pace with rapid global developments across different fields.
Nasima Mohammad Helal expressed her pride in receiving this recognition, describing it as an important milestone in her academic and professional journey, especially as she was the only recipient from Ajman University across all award categories this year.
She added that this achievement came after a journey of hard work, dedication, and challenges, noting that the support she received from her professors, family, and friends played a major role in reaching this level of excellence.
This achievement reflects the excellence of Ajman University students in engineering fields and their ability to compete in platforms that celebrate creativity and innovation through the application of academic knowledge and practical skills in research, innovation, and engineering practice.
