Ajman University Students Demonstrate Leadership and Excellence at the Model United Nations Conference 2026

As part of Ajman University’s commitment to preparing students to be career ready, globally aware, and confident communicators, a delegation of seven students and one chair, formed and supported by the Office of Student Life, represented the University at the AUS Model United Nations Conference 2026. The conference brought together more than 1,600 delegates from universities across the country from February 13-15.

Model United Nations conferences simulate the work of the United Nations, allowing students to represent countries and debate global issues on the UN agenda. Ajman University students demonstrated strong analytical thinking, persuasive communication, and professionalism across seven committees, including UNDP, UNPFII, GA-1, AL-EN, GA-3, PBC, and C-24. The delegation also included an Ajman University chair in the Commission on the Status of Women, contributing to the academic leadership of the conference.

Several Ajman University students received distinctions for their performance. Nada Minhaj from the College of Architecture earned the Best Research Award in the Peacebuilding Commission for the depth of her position paper and clarity of argument. Layla Kasim from the College of Business Administration received a Distinguished Delegate Award in GA-1 for her performance during committee challenge sessions. Mohammed Tarek from the College of Medicine was recognised as Best Chair in the CSW committee for fairness, organisation, and leadership throughout the sessions.

Reflecting on the value of this experience, Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of Ajman University, noted: “In forums such as Model United Nations, our students practice dialogue grounded in evidence, respect for diverse perspectives, and responsibility toward the common good. These experiences cultivate principled leadership and global awareness, preparing Ajman University graduates for the careers they will pursue and for meaningful contributions to the societies they will serve.”

Through initiatives coordinated by the Office of Student Life, Ajman University students gain real-world experience that strengthens public speaking, negotiation, and critical-thinking skills valued by employers. Their participation in international academic forums deepens their understanding of global issues, builds confidence, and enables them to represent Ajman University with professionalism on a global stage.
