Peer Tutors Take Center Stage at SSC Champions Recognition Ceremony

Ajman University honored more than 50 peer tutors at the SSC Champions Recognition Ceremony, celebrating student leadership, support, and academic success

Behind many of the breakthroughs that happen in study sessions across campus is a fellow student who took the time to explain, encourage, and guide. The Student Success Center (SSC) at Ajman University (AU) turned the spotlight on those students at its SSC Champions Recognition Ceremony, celebrating the dedication and impact of the university's Peer Tutor community.

More than 50 students from all nine AU colleges were honored across three categories: Peer Tutoring Champions, Professional Development Champions, and Students of Determination Academic Support Champions. Together, they represent a network of students who give their time and knowledge to help their peers succeed, both inside and beyond the classroom.

The ceremony culminated in the recognition of the Overall Top 3 SSC Champions, who demonstrated excellence across all three categories:

  • Rashid Mohamed Alhameedi, College of Law
  • Mohammed Khayat, College of Engineering and Information Technology (Information Technology)
  • Ameena Khan, College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (Physiotherapy)

The champions were recognized by Dr. Nahla Al Qassimi, Dean of Student Services, and Dr. Erum Khan, Manager of the Student Success Center. Deans and Faculty Liaisons from across the colleges also attended, joining the celebration and showing their support for the peer tutors representing their disciplines.

For the SSC, the ceremony was a chance to acknowledge not only what these students have achieved, but the culture they help build. By sharing what they know, peer tutors strengthen engagement across the university and make academic support feel approachable, coming from someone who has sat in the same lecture halls and faced the same exams.

The recognition is a reminder that student success at AU is often a shared effort, and that some of the most meaningful support on campus comes from students themselves.
