Ajman and Fujairah Campus Bag Awards at Tamaiaz and Falak Tayyeb

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai the 8th Tamaiz & Falak Tayyeb Awards were organized at Dubai Grand Hotel. It aims to encourage competition among UAE national students in both government and private universities and institutes to promote creativity and innovation.

Engineer Amna Abdullah AlMadhani, graduate of College of Engineering at Fujairah campus, secured the first place award of AED 20,000 at the competition. She presented her project in the category of "Health and environment". This project fulfills the growing interest of United Arab Emirates to enable efficient accessibility of healthcare systems for all residents available anytime.

She explained that, “To achieve these goals, our proposed medical system is designed to feature tracking the status of patients, especially the elderly and the special needs individuals. It also tracks those with chronic illnesses and need continuous monitoring of their condition. This system will ensure that these patients are able to live a normal life devoid of any hindrances, it will be achieved with the use of latest electronics and telecommunication technologies that will target patients with high precision and speed.

A team secured the fourth place, by winning AED7000, from Ajman Campus comprised of two graduates from the “Batch of Innovation 2015” namely, Saadia Shoaib, Mashael Jassim hailing from the Department of Bio Medical Engineering and student Manal Abdullah from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the College of Engineering.

The Ajman students’ team have designed a Mobile Robot System that is able to carry out various tasks and duties in a challenging indoor environment within an unstructured and unpredictable nature. It took them about 4 months to design and develop the system. This robot serves the purpose of a smart assistant that can be easily programmed to perform the required tasks.

Professor Abou-Elnour, Director Fujairah Campus, Deputy Dean College of Engineering in Fujairah supervised the student expressed that the achievements of our students reflects the efforts of the University and its commitment in supporting innovative projects from talented students to promote the vision of the UAE to support the culture of innovation and innovators.

Prof. Fahar Hayati, Dean, College of Engineering proudly stated that our graduates and students are the embodiment of our vision and relentless efforts to ensure that they are not only academically progressed at the end of their tenure at Ajman University but also as valuable contributors to the community by their initiatives.

This competition enriches the spirit and promotes entrepreneurship and positive competition while encouraging students to be creative and innovative. There are 7 categories of competition that students can vie for they include: Innovators, Commercial Projects, Health & Environment, Education, Islamic Economics, Social Networking and Leadership.

The department of community services at Ajman University ensures that students are always offered opportunities that encourages them and motivates them for this very purpose it forges cooperation with associations and entities that support community through their initiatives. It’s worth mentioning that Ajman University along with students participation was also one of the sponsors of the event.
