Ajman University wins big in Football and Taekwondo competitions

The football team of Ajman University of Science and Technology defeated their rival team from the University of Sharjah during the playoffs for the football championship of the Higher Education Sports Federation. 

Ajman University scored the first goal at the 20th minute by midfielder Ali Salah. In the second half Sharjah University managed to score an equalizer from a free-kick, and 23 later Mahmoud Ali scored AUST winning goal, which ensured his team a place in the quarter-finals against the American University of Sharjah.

Within the same series of championships organized by the higher education sports federation, AUST took part in the Taekwondo tournament held at the UAE University in Al Ain. AUST team was able to bring back 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.

Electronic Engineering student Maaz Mohammed won the bronze for the under 58kg category. Kamal Abulraziq from Communication Engineering Department secured the second place by winning the silver for under 74kg. Khalid Hassan from the College of Education held the second position in the 80kg category and won the silver medal, while bio-medical student Ali Mohammad Hussain brought home the bronze for above 87kg.

The Sports activities in-charge Abdul Hamid Bakour was proud of AUST students and their remarkable achievements. AUST keenly promotes sports activities to ensure a balanced lifestyle for students who spend most of their time on campus during the tenure of their studies.
