Community Service Department at Ajman University of Science and organized in collaboration with College of Information, Mass Communication and Humanities, a field trip to the Old People Home in Sharjah. It witnessed participation from 20 female students.
The management welcomed the students and provided them with information about the establishment of the Old People home. They were also briefed about the conditions for accepting the elderly, as well as a detailed explanation of the elderly’s daily life in the Old People home. Later the students toured the various sections of the nursing home: Physiotherapy, events hall, barber room and group and individual rooms.
The purpose of the visit was to reinforce of the volunteering spirit among AUST students and the deployment of social awareness for the needs of the various segment of society in our students. In addition to the integration of first year students with the civil society institutions and encouraging entrepreneurship and social solidarity, thus contributing to increase the student’s job opportunities after graduation due to the value of social work acquired by the student.
Students gave gifts for the elderly and had breakfast with them. Mrs. Noor Al Chaghouri from Community Service Department and Dr. Wisam Naser from College of Information, Mass Communication and Humanities participated in the trip.
