Ajman University of Science and Technology’s Inter-College Football Championship has wound up after nearly one month of competition, whose matches took place in the University’s on-campus football pitch in Al Jurf, Ajman.
This year’s tournament saw the participation of 18 teams representing AUST’s 9 colleges along with one all-staff team who wanted to share the pleasure of football with their fellow students.
Large crowds from the University and outside followed the championship, especially in the final rounds that were marked with stiff competition among the four teams who made it to the finals; namely Law, Business Administration, Mass Communication and Employees teams. The all-staff team clinched the championship title with a 3-2 win in the final game against the law team.
Following the competition, an award ceremony was organized by the Sports Activities Section of the Department of Student Affairs to honor the three best teams that shined throughout the championship as well as its outstanding referees. Coach Abdulhameed Bakoor, AUST Sports Supervisor, who coordinated the tournament, noted that “the main objective of this championship is to promote a friendly and harmonious atmosphere amongst the University students and staff and impart to them the values of fair play.”
Participating students voiced their joy at this event and extended their grateful thanks to AUST management for supporting such enjoyable experience-building activities.
