As part of its ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, the Office of Sustainability and the Office of Human Resources at Ajman University launched a sustainability training series titled: “Sustainability Starts With Us: Building a Greener Workplace.”
The training aims to raise awareness and encourage practical actions that support environmental and social sustainability within the university community, particularly among academic and administrative staff.
The sessions were delivered by Maya Haddad, Senior Sustainability Manager, who shared valuable insights, practical strategies, and real-life applications to help participants integrate sustainability into their daily work practices.
The program included four interactive sessions. The first session, “Understanding the Basics,” explored key sustainability concepts, their importance in a university setting, and the role of employees in driving institutional change while also highlighting the university’s current initiatives and goals.
The second session, “Sustainable Daily Operations,” focused on practical ways to reduce energy and water consumption, minimize waste through reuse and recycling, promote sustainable procurement, and reduce paper usage.
The third session, “Building a Culture of Change,” emphasized teamwork and collaboration in promoting sustainable practices, encouraging positive behaviors, and recognizing outstanding initiatives. It also marked the launch of Ajman University’s Sustainability Champions Network.
The series concluded with an interactive session titled “From Ideas to Action,” which focused on brainstorming and developing sustainability projects for offices and colleges, along with creating measurable action plans and exchanging ideas among participants. The session also introduced the Ajman University Sustainability Excellence Award 2026, encouraging departments to compete for the most impactful initiative by Fall 2026.
Through this initiative, Ajman University continues to strengthen a culture of sustainability and empower its community to take practical steps toward a more sustainable future.
