Ajman Ruler Inaugurates Innovation Center-Ajman

His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, inaugurated Innovation Center-Ajman, a new innovation initiative established and hosted by Ajman University.

Ajman ruler was accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, Dr. Khalid Al Khaja, AUST Acting Chancellor, as well as members of Ajman University Board of Trustees.

ICA mission is to provide an innovation platform to create opportunities for productive interactions between students, alumni, faculty, industry, government and society in order to achieve significant economic and social benefits for the engaged stakeholders through sharing and implementing innovative ideas and solutions to resolve existing problems and address future challenges

The team of Innovation Center-Ajman is composed of highly experienced professionals and academicians who are expert in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship as well as in different technologies and academic specializations. The Center is chaired by Dr. Mohamed Al Shami, Dean of AUST College of Business Administration, with Dr. Abdullah Ismail as director. The team engages a wide-range of experts and resourceful individuals through connecting both permanent academic and research staff of the University as well as experts from outside the campus. The external experts include researchers from other academic institutions, mentors from corporate and industrial sectors, policy makers and regulators from public-sector institutions, and groups of dedicated investors from the financial institutions and local community – all of them fully committed to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the UAE.

During the inauguration event, the ICA announced an Ajman-wide “Idea Competition” which will be held during November 1-3, 2016 at ICA in Sheikh Zayed Center for Exhibitions & Conference. The 11 best ideas will be shortlisted through this competition. The selected candidates will be offered to join ICA’s cutting-edge incubation program. ICA opens its innovation facilities on the first Thursday of every month from 2pm to 6pm to the general public, corporate executives and employees, investors, and public officials to visit ICA and observe the development of its ongoing projects, and to give them an opportunity to share their creative and innovative ideas.
